Hillsboro -- Mrs. Ruby Cooper, 74, a Gold Star Mother and member of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, was fatally stricken Thursday evening at her home, Rt 1, Hillsboro. She was a member of the Hillsboro Legion Auxiliary and Cain Twp. Home Ec Club. Mrs. Cooper was a daughter of George and Cora McElwee Rodgers and was born July 27, 1898 near Wallace. She married Marion Cooper Sept 27, 1919. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, Charles A. of Alhambra, California and Bill M. of Hillsboro; 3 daughters, Mrs. Dee Beardon of Anderson; Mrs. Philip Pitts of Newport News, VA and Mrs. David Canen of Danville, Ind; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Smith of Veedersburg and 12 grandchildren. Three sons, include one who died in a Japanese prison camp during WWII and a brother and sister preceded Mrs. Cooper in death. Hillsboro - Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Cooper, 74 of Rt 1, Hillsboro were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Crumley-Williams Funeral Home here with Pastor George Scott officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. Mrs. Cooper died Thursday evening at her home.
